RE2020: What French Contractors Should Publish

French contractor reviewing low-carbon material data and building plans for an RE2020 project

An RE2020 contractor website should explain the firm's role in design, product selection, construction data, quality control and handover. It should not imply that a contractor alone certifies an entire building's compliance.

France's Ministry for Ecological Transition maintains the official RE2020 information. Use current project requirements and qualified advice for formal decisions; this guide focuses on credible public evidence.

What should a French contractor publish about RE2020?

Publish scope, project stage, data responsibilities, material or system evidence, coordination, quality checks and completed examples. State where responsibility sits with the client, designer, assessor, manufacturer or other party.

Define the contractor's role

Explain whether the firm contributes estimating, design development, product substitution, procurement, installation, testing or record handover. Separate self-performed work from supply-chain responsibilities.

This prevents a broad “RE2020 expertise” claim from obscuring the actual service.

Show material and product data control

Describe how technical and environmental information is requested, checked, approved and retained. Identify how substitutions are evaluated and how revised data reaches the relevant team.

Do not publish confidential calculations. Publish the decision and record workflow.

Explain construction quality

State inspection, installation-control, testing and non-conformance processes for the relevant package. Link each process to an anonymised or approved project example.

Photographs should show the work and its context, not only finished architecture.

Keep regulatory content current

Assign an owner and review date. The ministry's 2026 transition note shows that implementation continues to develop. Link to official sources and remove obsolete thresholds rather than leaving undated summaries online.

Build project evidence

For each case, state building type, location, role, package, coordination challenge, evidence supplied and verified outcome. Obtain permissions and distinguish design intent from as-built delivery.

Questions buyers may ask

Does the contractor calculate compliance? State the actual responsibility. Do not imply an assessment role that belongs to another project party.

How are substitutions controlled? Explain who checks technical and environmental information, who approves the change and how the updated record reaches site and handover.

Can the experience be transferred? Show the building type, package and project stage behind each case. One compliant project does not automatically prove every future application.

Review the page with the person responsible for project data and one site lead. Their combined check should confirm that the published workflow reflects both formal information control and what teams can actually execute during procurement and installation.

Creatif Work creates construction websites that make technical responsibility visible. Our website service helps French contractors connect RE2020-related workflows to real project proof without turning a complex regulatory process into a marketing badge.
