UK Procurement Act: Construction Supplier Checklist

The UK Procurement Act for construction suppliers makes discoverability and controlled supplier information more important. It does not replace the need to understand each opportunity, selection requirement and contracting authority's process.
This is a communication and readiness checklist, not legal advice. Suppliers should use the official guidance and obtain professional advice where interpretation affects a bid.
What should a construction supplier prepare?
Prepare accurate organisation data, current exclusion and connected-person information, registrations, financial and technical evidence, project records and a process for monitoring notices. Assign owners before a live procurement demands the information.
The government's Procurement Act 2023 guidance collection is the authoritative starting point. Use the guidance relevant to your role and procurement rather than relying on summaries alone.
Control core supplier information
Keep legal name, registration number, addresses, ownership details, contact roles, SME status and applicable identifiers in a single approved record. Map which data is public, portal-submitted or confidential.
Inconsistency between the website, tender answer and corporate record creates avoidable clarification.
Build an opportunity-monitoring routine
Define target authorities, sectors, regions, value bands and work packages. Assign who reviews notices, who qualifies an opportunity and when a bid/no-bid decision must occur.
Do not treat every notice as a lead. A clear market and capability fit protects the estimating team.
Prepare technical and project evidence
Create project sheets that state scope, role, programme, value band, delivery environment, key personnel and substantiated result. Index them by capability and evaluation theme.
Keep certifications, policies, insurance and CVs current. A website can publish searchable summaries, but formal submissions should use controlled source documents.
Our guide to construction prequalification content explains how to make credentials interpretable instead of displaying an unexplained row of logos.
Make public pages procurement-ready
Publish the exact services, geographic coverage, registrations, relevant projects, management systems and tender contact. State whether the company operates as principal contractor, specialist contractor, consultant or supplier.
Public pages should not make legal claims about eligibility. They should help a buyer understand the firm and locate the verified source.
Run a quarterly readiness test
- Verify corporate information and named contacts.
- Review official guidance for relevant changes.
- Test notice monitoring and internal routing.
- Update three priority project records.
- Check certificate, policy and insurance dates.
- Remove unsupported claims from web and PDFs.
Creatif Work builds construction websites and structured evidence systems for firms selling into complex procurement. Our custom software service can also help teams control reusable qualification data instead of assembling it from inboxes for every new framework.
