Engineering Capability Statement: A Singapore Guide

An engineering capability statement in Singapore should help a procurement manager or technical buyer decide whether to include the firm in an RFQ. It is not a condensed About page. It is a controlled summary of technical scope, capacity, standards, completed work and the person responsible for the next conversation.
Singapore's engineering ecosystem spans EPC, consulting, specialist services, precision manufacturing and advanced production. EDB's advanced manufacturing overview describes a sector embedded in semiconductors, aerospace, biomedical sciences and speciality chemicals. A useful capability statement makes one company's place in that ecosystem precise.
What belongs in an engineering capability statement?
Include the exact processes offered, operating limits, materials or systems handled, quality evidence, representative projects, locations and a named technical-commercial contact. Put the decision facts first and the company story later.
One sentence that defines the firm
Use a sentence narrow enough to exclude unsuitable work. For example: “Singapore-based precision engineering firm producing low-volume, high-complexity stainless-steel and aluminium components for semiconductor equipment.”
That is more useful than “a trusted provider of innovative engineering solutions”. It tells the buyer what kind of requirement belongs here.
Capability with boundaries
For manufacturing, publish machines, working envelope, materials, achievable tolerance, batch range and inspection resources. For EPC or services, publish disciplines, project stages, technical responsibility, sectors and typical project scale.
State the conditions behind any number. Tolerance, capacity and lead time often change with geometry, material, quantity or approval requirements. Credibility includes the boundary.
Our article on capacity and tolerance provides a detailed structure, while the spec sheet as a web page explains why the same data should be searchable online.
Standards, licences and certifications
For each item, state the standard or scheme, issuing body, certified scope and expiry. Add registration grade or licence class when it affects work eligibility. Do not make a buyer decode a row of logos.
Put the relevant evidence beside the capability it supports. A general register can sit at the end or on a dedicated page.
Comparable project evidence
Choose three projects by buyer relevance. State the client sector, problem, technical scope, useful scale, standard, delivery constraint and outcome. If a client cannot be named, retain the facts and remove the identity.
A photograph of equipment proves that equipment exists. A project record proves the firm used it to solve a comparable requirement.
Locations and operating model
Publish registered and operating locations, workshop or facility function, service region and working hours. If fabrication is performed by an approved partner or overseas plant, say so. A buyer can accept a distributed supply chain; hidden responsibility creates concern.
A direct response route
Name the business development or applications-engineering owner, provide a direct company email and state the information needed for an RFQ. Where drawings can be uploaded, explain accepted formats and confidentiality handling.
Avoid claiming an immediate quotation when the work needs technical review. Give an acknowledgement target and a realistic review window instead.
PDF or website?
Use both from one source. The PDF is easy to forward and retain in a vendor file. The website is searchable, linkable and easier to keep current. Date and version the PDF; identify the owner of the authoritative data.
When a machine, certificate or office changes, update the source once and refresh both surfaces. A 2023 capability statement beside a 2026 website forces the buyer to decide which one is true.
A recommended page order
- Company definition and immediate contact.
- Core capabilities and limits.
- Facilities, equipment and locations.
- Quality, standards and licences.
- Three comparable projects.
- Delivery, support and RFQ process.
- Certificate and equipment appendix.
Keep the core statement concise enough to scan. Link detailed product, process and project pages for buyers who need depth.
Test it with a real requirement
Give the draft to an engineer outside the company and ask them to qualify the firm against a sample RFQ. Record every question the statement cannot answer and every claim that needs internal explanation.
That test is more valuable than asking whether the document “looks professional”. The document succeeds when it helps the right buyer continue and the wrong buyer disqualify the firm early.
Creatif Work builds engineering websites and capability systems around this decision path. We organise technical evidence, write the public pages and design the downloadable statement so they remain consistent. If the current company profile describes the business but does not help a buyer qualify it, start with our diagnostic.
